Wings in the Wild

Wings in the Wild is a contemporary novel‑in‑verse that blends romance, human rights, and climate activism. The story follows two teens whose lives intersect through art, music, and their shared fight for freedom.

Soleida, a young Cuban artist, flees to Central America after the Cuban government arrests her parents for creating a secret sculpture garden of chained birds—art deemed illegal by the state. Stranded among thousands of Cuban refugees in Costa Rica, she meets Dariel, a Cuban American musician whose mysterious music captivates both animals and people.

Together, they work to:
